Here are some common techniques in 3D printing:

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is a technique that uses lasers as a resource to form solid 3D objects. This technique was developed by Carl Deckard, a University of Texas student, and his professor Joe Beaman in the 1980s. As stated earlier, the 3D Inc. system developed stereolithography, which in some ways was very similar to Selective Laser Sintering. The main difference between SLS and SLA is that it uses powder material in vats instead of liquid resin, such as stereolithography. The material to be printed may be made of nylon, ceramics, and glass for some metals such as aluminum, steel or silver. Because of the various materials that can be used with this type of 3d printer, SLS technology is very popular for customized 3D printing products.

Stereolithography (SLA)

SLA is the first technique for 3D Printing. The trick is to add a continuous layer of photopolymer material to the top. The material used initially is liquid (liquid) and will harden when the liquid is exposed to ultraviolet light. The printing process involves a uniquely designed 3D printing machine.

Digital Light Processing (DLP)

Digital Light Processing is another 3D Printing process that is very similar to stereolithography. The material used for printing is the liquid plastic resin which is placed in a transparent resin container. Resins harden quickly when influenced by large amounts of light. A layer of hardened material can be made with the printer in a few seconds. The printing results will be much stronger and have a very good resolution.

The advantage of DLP with SL is far less material used for production, resulting in lower costs.
